Nordarnøy Coastal Fortress

Welcome to a guided tour of Nordarnøy coastal fort!

This is a German fortress from World War II, built 1941/42. The facility is located on Nordarnøy about 6 km from the ferry quay on Sørarnøy. On the site are 3 original 15 cm cannons and there are command towers, bunkers and tufts after the camp area.

The coastal fort on Nordarnøy, in Gildeskål municipality, was established in 1941/42 as part of the German strengthening of the coastal defense on the Norwegian coast. This coastal fort was one of thirteen forts in the Bodø area, around "Festung Bodø". We offer an interesting tour for groups where you get to hear about life inside the fort and what the defense consisted of.
