Here you will find tools, objects and buildings conveying the history of life along the most beautiful coast of the world - from the harsh realities of the coastal farmer to the position of the trading centers as centers of power.

The trading centre at Kjerringøy, north of Bodø, is located idyllic and stands forth as one of Norway’s most important building memorials from the 18-th century. It contains 15 antiquated buildings in a unique setting.

Egge museum is located just north of Steinkjer center, in a landscape with cultural monuments and traces of the entire man-made history. The Petter Dass-museum at Alstahaug is The County of Nordland´s millennium site. The museum is dedicated to the heritage of the priest and poet Petter Dass.
In the land-based exhibition centre, you can descend into the centre of a huge aquarium (over 10 metres in diameter). There you will be surrounded by salmon that are swimming around you in every direction.

The Vega World Heritage Centre is located on Gardsøya, where the sky meets the sea - close to the beautiful Nes. Through exhibitions and activities, you will be immersed in the lives of fishermen and islanders, and learn about the background for the World Heritage status. During your visit, you can see, hear, taste, and smell the World Heritage.
The Norwegian Jekt Trade Museum in Bodø takes you on board a voyage into the exciting history of maritime navigation and trade along the Norwegian coast. Our unique preserved Jekt Anna Karoline is the hub of our exhibition.
The trade post was established in 1794 and is today a small and cosy museum in Ørnes in the Meløy region. Here you can enjoy a couple of interesting exhibitions as well as a nice cafe. The museum is located right next to Ørnes Hotel.
The best way to get to know Bodø is to visit the Bodø Town Museum (Bymuseet). The old and beautiful building from 1903 is situated right in the center. In addition to the permanent exhibition, the museum has changing exhibitions throughout the year.
