Engen Skyssbåt

Engen Skyssbåt (boat service) brings you accross the Holandsfjord with MS Isprins. If you want to get close to Norway's second largest glacier, this is the easiest way to achieve it. The trip across the fjord takes only 10 minutes. Bikes can be rented upon arrival at the dock on the Svartisen side of the fjord. You will find more information regarding bike rentals here.

The trip over the Holandsfjord runs from Holandsvika, along Kystriksveien Fv17, between Glomfjord and Halsa. When you arrive at the dock at Svartisen you can either choose to walk all the way to the ice edge (about 50 minutes) or you can rent a bicycle from Engen Skyssbåt. There is a road almost all the way, but the last part goes on rocks and must be done by foot. The last part is uphill and a bit steep. 

Along the road (20 min from the dock) towards Svartisen you can visit Brestua for lunch, coffee or dinner. 

You may also join a guided tour on Svartisen by these two companies: Beyond Limits and Meløy Adventure.

Visiting Svartisen also will give an oportunity to get real close to the moose.  Just next to Brestua you can "Kiss a Moose" at the moose farm. Bring your camera!

Accommodation at Svartisen: 

There are two places to stay near Svartisen. A great choice if you want to spend some alone time and experience the silence after the last boat returnes to the mainland.  

Cabins at Brestua (the tourist center) and close to the Moose Farm.
