THE AGRICULTURAL MUNICIPALITY OF SØMNA
The coastal area and the mild climate have since the Iron Age created the lush agriculture that makes Sømna the largest agricultural municipality in the Nordic region. Many travel through the countryside to get to the next ferry as quickly as possible, but there is no reason why you should! Take a break and experience the hospitality yourself.
Wide beach surface and mild climate have since the Iron Age created a lush, hospitable and large farming industry in Sømna. The peninsula, surrounded by shallow sea, small islets and idyllic limestone beaches is also a paradise for kayaking and diving. The beach area is cultivated all the way to the mountain slopes, where you can follow easy paths up to dizzying views.
The 648 meters high mountain Lysingen is the chieftain among the surrounding mountains. Lysingen is also the name of the ferry that runs between Holm in Bindal and Vennesund in Sømna. Vennesund has a long tradition as a trading post. Here you will find camping, boat rental and a restored jetty with food service.
